What insurance do I need for a Utah contractor license? 

As of April 20, 2026, DOPL requires a general liability insurance certificate showing at least $1,000,000 per incident and $3,000,000 in total, with DOPL listed as the certificate holder. If you have employees, you also need a workers’ compensation certificate. If you have none, you need a workers’ compensation coverage waiver from the Utah Labor Commission.
