Does Colorado require workers’ compensation insurance?

Yes. Colorado employers with one or more employees must carry workers’ compensation insurance and maintain it at all times, with limited exceptions. CDLE says this applies to part-time, full-time, and family-member employees. An employer without coverage can be fined up to $500 for each uninsured day1.
