Do you have to have business insurance in NC?

North Carolina does not require every business to carry general liability insurance. However, the state does require certain coverage based on how a business operates.

Businesses with three or more employees must carry workers’ compensation insurance, and companies with vehicles titled in the business name must carry commercial auto insurance. In addition, landlords, clients, and contracts often require proof of general liability insurance before allowing work to begin.
