How much liability insurance do Maryland home improvement contractors need?

At least $500,000. Since June 1, 2024, Maryland law requires every licensed home improvement contractor to maintain $500,000 in general liability insurance. The Maryland Home Improvement Commission checks proof of coverage when you apply and when you renew, and your policy must stay active at all times.
