Is general liability insurance required in Illinois?

Not by state law for most businesses. However, landlords, clients, vendors, licensing authorities, and general contractors frequently require it. Requests for $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate limits are typical in leases and contracts. Chicago also requires proof of liability coverage for its general contractor license classes.
